Subject: CLAW wins!! WALC -- all bark, no bite...

If you haven't heard already, (or seen the cool trophy in the lobby) CLAW soundly defeated the CLAW expatriates, WALC (CLAW spelled backwards, standing for Wilderness Activists Late of CLAW). this was the first game of a new dramatic rivalry.

We took the lead in the first inning scoring seven runs to start things off and never looked back, as we held a lead the entire game.

This was a terrific team effort -- everyone played great!

Some notable performances were put in by Bob Bingaman, a CLAW veteran who has played little this season but had a peak performance, with 2 RBIs and the game clinching catch deep in left field.

Dirk Manskopf was 3 for 3, scoring thrice and had 2 RBIs. Meredith Duran hit well and scored. Captain CLAW, Jeff Bocan, was 3 for 3, with 2 homers, a triple and 5 RBIs. John Leary played solid defense, homered and had 2 RBIs. Blake Early had a hit, scored and had the "heads up" play of the game, covering first from right field when first baseman, Russ Shays (a welcome CLAW addition -- thanks Debbie) fielded a grounder. Steve "Foxy" Brown played flawless defense on the mound and denied WALC of any big innings. Intern Dave also put in a huge performance both at the plate and with his glove.

CLAW recieved tremendous moral support from Debbie Sease, Melanie Griffin, Tien, Kelli, Ann Mesnikoff, Jenny, Ann Riley, Jamie and Riley Woodwell.

We were especially happy to see Kristin Hyde take the field for the first time were she played flawless defense and was robbed of an infield single.

John McComb attended the game and took pictures with a digital camera and will be posting a web site of this triumphant game. I'll let you know more about this later.

Thanks everyone! Next game is tomorrow, July 24th against the Killerwatts! They beat us last time, so we must seek revenge!!!!
